Descripción del Tour
Our journey kicks off with a hotel transfer from El Calafate, commencing at 7:30 am to reach the starting point of our adventure by 9:30 am at the deserted stop on Route N° 40 Luz Divina - km 663. Here, our expert guides will conduct a brief safety briefing before we embark on our walk.
Once prepared, we adjust the kayaks (passengers use double kayaks while guides use single ones); and we conduct a session on safety and evacuation, including rowing techniques, turning, braking, and explaining the river's dynamics. We then embark on the downstream navigation.
During the descent of the river, we will witness breathtaking landscapes and the stunning contrast between the ochre hues of the steppe and the turquoise waters of glacial origin, which captivated explorers like Darwin, Moreno, and Moyano. Groups of up to 8 people ensure a personalized experience.
The first kayaking segment lasts approximately 1.15 hours (10 km). In the area of Cerro Fortaleza (Estancia la Meseta), we pause for lunch and trek through Cerro los Hornos to a viewpoint where you can observe petrified logs and bones. After a break , we return to the kayaks for the final 1-hour segment (6 km), taking in the geological formations and the steppe vegetation, covering approximately 14 km in our kayaks, reaching Estancia La Irene (Arroyo Turbio), where the journey concludes.
Upon arrival at The Estancia, we can enjoy a snack with hot beverages to recharge.
Return to El Calafate in the afternoon.
